C’est ici que se termine ma rubrique «Mes années Scharnaval», j’espère avoir pu partager avec vous mes souvenirs, mes émotions et surtout les documents vidéos des 8 cortèges auxquels j’ai activement participés à l’organisation.

Cela a également permis de rendre hommage, à ceux qui se sont investis dès la première heure, et que l’on a déjà tendance à oublier.

Depuis le début de ma démarche, de nombreuses choses ont évolué positivement et je m’en réjouis.

Ainsi, à l’époque où nous avions relancé le cortège carnavalesque de Schaerbeek, une vingtaine de lignes étaient «tolérées» dans le «Schaerbeek Info». Aujourd’hui, 3 pages dont la couverture sont enfin consacrées à l’événement.

Après avoir supprimé le traditionnel cuistax du Collège des Bourgmestre et Echevins, mon successeur décide de revoir sa copie et invite l’ensemble des élus actuels et anciens à ouvrir le 80ème cortège de Schaerbeek.

Et enfin, je crois que mon impertinence d’avoir osé rappeler qu’avant l’échevin Etienne Noël, il y a aussi eu Van Gorp et tous les autres, cela a permis de recadrer un peu les choses et de rappeler qu’un carnaval, c’est avant tout l’occasion de faire la fête. Le Scharnaval est avant tout celui des Schaerbeekois et son organisation, si elle nécessite un travail minutieux et sérieux, ne doit en définitive vraiment pas nous faire prendre au sérieux.

Lorsque Francis Duriaux, Geert Pierre et moi-même avons décidé d’exhumer ce carnaval, pour permettre à une centaine d’inconditionnels de le ressusciter, pour le plus grand plaisir des Schaerbeekois, nous espérions tous les trois que celui-ci perdurerait. Ce 80ème anniversaire est dès lors plutôt de bonne augure pour la suite. Et je tenais aussi à souligner que sans l’Echevin Etienne Noël, le 76ème aurait bien pu être le dernier…

C’est pour cela que le petit garçon des années 60 que j’étais, si émerveillé par le traditionnel passage du carnaval, qui a ouvert cette rubrique du souvenirs, espère de tout son coeur que dans 20 ans, nous puissions fêter le 100ème anniversaire du cortège et nous remémorer tous ces bons moments en mettant à l’honneur tous ceux qui auront permis à notre folklore schaerbeekois de perdurer au travers des années.
